Hinchman, a philosophy professor at Kenyon, who writes to Jim Romenesko’s MediaNews site in re the Signorile-Sullivan cockfight: “It is not hypocrisy to decry the harmful effects of smoking while sucking down a pack a day. Nor to lament the effects of pornography while seeking it out. Nor to rail against promiscuity while practicing it. You form views about what courses of action would be best, then you deal with the realities of temptation.” Isn’t this nicely articulated?
