ooh i'm tired. but i had an i-love-work day, so it warrants a post.
actually customer-wise it was icky, except for the venezuelan couple ( we reminisced about spain ) and the slightly grungy boy with connections to books&books who invited me to a reading on friday, playwright-aspiring friends in tow.
but coworker-wise it almost rocked.
i think joe ( the brother of the boy with whom i trained ) has a crushlet. he was my backup today and we spent all night joking around and he let me put stickers on his nametag and he was all asking me if i worked his shift on friday and well, i guess you had to be there. too bad he's eighteen.
i flustered enigmatic-older-chris, who is just so benevolent with me. joked around with the head manager while counting money. anna offered me rides to and from work on days when we have the same shift. big smiles from/with the receiving boys, johnny and jason ( jason didn't get fired! it was someone else! i'm so glad. ). chicagoboy ( formerly jazzboy -- i'm really not sure the name fits ) was lovely and elusive as ever. i refuse to let myself think chicagoboy too lovely though. no no no. unless he ( figuratively) hits me over the head one day, which he won't since he's one of the cynical-vulnerable types. whatever that means. forgive me, i'm tired.
also i talked to a very nice boy ( a south beach club kid of sorts ) on a bus bench as we waited for the s this afternoon. we flipped through his magazine. he likes bookstores. he said he would visit me at work. i love talking to random people. if they're nice.
i also love old ladies who ask me for advice when choosing holiday cards or gifts for their grandkids. and the sassy little girl who made me choose one out of three r.l. stine books the other day, and then came back a few days later to ask me more questions.
and i love magazineboy damon because he asks questions like "what do you think the venus de milo would look like with arms?" and tells me things like " real candles are nice, but i really want to decorate my room with those electric-type candles."
and the ruby tuesday's bartender girl. i always go in there for an iced coffee or shots of espresso on my break, and we chat.
ah, work. i have tomorrow off. what am i going to do with myself?
drinks with ed! drinks with ed! i hope.
( this entry valid only while the love lasts. be warned. )
